Ray Jones, Vice-Chair
Mr. Jones was appointed to the Authority by Governor Ducey in August of 2015, as a person knowledgeable in water resources management.
With over 30 years of experience in the management, operation, planning, design and construction of water systems throughout Arizona, Mr. Jones began his water career in 1985 with Citizens Water Resources’ Arizona Operations. He held increasingly responsible positions throughout his tenure, ultimately serving as Vice President and General Manager for Citizens prior to its acquisition by American Water in 2002. From 2002 to 2004, he served as President of Arizona-American Water Company. During his utility career, Mr. Jones spearheaded efforts to put CAP water to use in the Sun Cities, Anthem and Surprise.
In 2004, Mr. Jones founded ARICOR Water Solutions, a consulting firm focused on providing strategic and creative solutions to the water challenges facing municipalities, master-planned communities and private water companies. Mr. Jones specializes in water resource policy and strategy development, master planning, rates and regulatory support and management consulting. Mr. Jones also serves as the Executive Director of the Water Utilities Association of Arizona.
Mr. Jones was an advisory member of the Statewide Water Resources Development Commission and a member of the Technical Advisory Committee supporting the Governor’s Water Management Commission.
Mr. Jones is a licensed professional engineer in Arizona and California. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Kansas and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Arizona State University.
Mr. Jones lives in Prescott with his wife Joan. They have three adult children.
