Austin Smith
Representative Austin Smith was appointed to the AWBA Commission on February 13, 2023 by Ben Toma, Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Representative Austin Smith is a proud 5th generation Arizonan. His family came to Arizona in a covered wagon before statehood in 1908 and started working the cotton fields in the West Valley. Representative Smith is a graduate of Millennium High School in Goodyear, AZ where he excelled in varsity football and the National FFA Organization as a chapter officer, and competing twice at the National FFA Convention in Livestock Evaluation and Management, and the Agricultural Issues Forum. Growing up in the Grand Canyon State and working in the agriculture industry on ranches and farms across his district and Arizona, he saw firsthand how devastating an out-of-control government can be to water, business and freedom. Representative Smith has raised his own cattle, horses, swine and poultry in partnership with his brother Troy for the last 20 years. Austin Smith is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys to hunt large and small game across the vastness of Arizona’s untamed wilderness. When he isn’t hunting or fishing, he can be found playing golf with his family and friends or working on a cause for the conservative movement. As Vice Chairman of the Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Water – Representative Smith believes whether the land you call home is densely populated with houses, heifers or bolls of cotton, we’re all allies in the fight for Arizona’s water future.
