Plan of Operation
By January 1st of each year, the AWBA must approve a Plan of Operation for that calendar year. The report specifies how the AWBA will operate for the year including a water delivery schedule and associated storage facilities, and the projected cost for implementation of the Plan. Prior to approval, the Plan goes through a public review process.
2020 Plan of Operation:
The 2020 Plan of Operation was adopted on December 4th, 2019. For 2020, there will be no excess CAP water available to the AWBA for storage. As a result, the AWBA will continue to use alternative methods to continue making progress on its Indian and M&I firming goals. This includes purchases of long-term storage credits and pre-firming arrangements with the Gila River Indian Community. The 2020 Annual Plan of Operation provides for the development of an estimated 35,600 acre-feet of credits for a total estimated cost of $8.86 million.
In June 2020, an unexpected supply of CAP turn back water was made available to the AWBA for storage. The 2020 Amended Plan of Operation describes water storage plans for this unexpected supply.
